Aliens 5.0 Stars
My favorite of the Ridley quadrilogy. (I don't count that AVP crap as part of the franchise) Don't be fooled kids, Aliens are not cool; they are scary as fuck, and that makes for one hell of a good movie.

American Gangster (2007,  R)
American Gangster 4.0 Stars
Ridley Scott ticks another genre box on his list, with this very satisfying gangster movie. A brilliant eye opener, with performances for the ages. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe are perfectly cast, and more than compliment this dark tale. American Gangster offers up some of the best drama of the year, which will stay with you for a long time, and that's always the sign of a strong dramatic tale. Scott's gangster epic is a thoroughly rewarding experience, and one of the best movies I've seen from the genre recently.

More to follow.

Audition (Ôdishon) (1999,  R)
Audition (Ôdishon) 4.0 Stars
Audition is a cinematic drugs trip. Throwing you all over the place, leaving you to decide where you are.

Shiina is genuinly scary, and gives off a questionable vibe; you know from the start that you can't trust her character. The suspense comes from waiting for her to start her assault, you know its coming, you just don't know when. Miike has paced everything brilliantly.

I don't really see Audition as a horror, sure its scary, horrific and simply tense, but its nothing close to cliche or stereotypical. It asks too much from the viewers mind for it to be a simpllistic and formulaic horror outing.

Miike's Audition is one of a kind, and I highly reccomend it to everyone; horror fan or not.

Back to the Future Part II 5.0 Stars
HELL YEAH! My favorite of the trilogy. This is the best due to setting and plot.

The setting (being the "future"), is the best they could have chosen. It is great fun to explore the crazy world and see all the so called "future" gadgets.

The plot is equally fun, it takes some nice turns and twists; which is nice for an adventure movie, and links up great with the past movie... which we actually get to revisit.

This movie is the main reason that BTTF is one of my favorite trilogies. Just make sure you start with Part I.

Bad Boys (1995,  R)
Bad Boys 4.0 Stars
One of the best buddy movies. Two cool guys, blowing stuff up in a cool fashion, while shouting cool swear words! Run of the mill, but great fun. Possibly the only good Michael Bay movie.

Not nearly as good as the first. Bay got bored and repackaged the same film, with worse humour! There are some nice effects though....

BASEketball never takes itself too seriously, or tries showing off; yet it remains polished and slick for the humour it portrays.

The first of its kind. It has been copied many a time, and if you watch it now it just looks like another one of those funny cop movies. Forget those other wannabe flicks that exist though, and you have a fantastic movie at hand.
