The Road was one of my most highly anticipated films this year. I love the book by Cormac McCarthy and think that it has the potential to be quite a stunner. From the pictures I've seen, the look is fantastic, and Hillcoate was a very good choice to direct after having seen his highly overlooked film The Proposition.
However, The Road will no longer be in consideration for a top 10 list of 2008 list. The film has been pushed back to sometime in the Spring of 2009 most likely. Here's to hoping that its not due to any problems with the film itself.

The book did nothing for me (I only made it half way), but I have a hope that Viggo, a ton of Oscar buzz, and the very cinematic landscapes will make this more exciting to see on the screen than on the page.

Entertainment Weekly ranked The Road as the best book of the last 25 years, and this adaptation may earn Viggo Mortensen another Oscar nod. After last year's brilliant Cormac McCarthy adaptation, I'm eager to see this.

My best friend recommended this too me about 5 times. I finally looked for at saw it was one of Oprah's books of the month. It was a fast read. Sat night - Monday night. I loved it. One of the best books I've ever read. It's by Cormac McCarthy, who wrote All The Pretty Horses and No Country For Old Men. Can't wait to see the movie. The Road won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction!!

The Coen brothers thanked him profusely at the Oscars.

Ridley Scott also has a version of Comac's book Blood Meridian, which hopefully will make it out in 2009.

This is the film adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's latest novel. You might know him as the author of such classics as No Country For Old Men and Blood Meridian. No Country For Old Men was the novel that turned into an Oscar winning film directed by the Coen Brothers and Blood Meridian will soon be made for the screen by director Ridley Scott.

The Road, known to be the 2007 Pulitzer Prize winner for fiction, is an absolutely fantastic read and one of my favourite novels. Me being a huge fan of both Cormac and the book, hopefully, the film version doesn't disappoint. I mean with Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee portraying the main characters of father and son plus director John Hillcoat what can go wrong?
