"Imagine if you suddenly learned that the people, the places, the moments most important to you were not gone, not dead, but worse, had never been. What kind of hell would that be?"

    THE MOVIE OUTLINE

"At Princeton University, John Nash struggles to make a worthwhile contribution to serve as his legacy to the world of mathematics. He finally makes a revolutionary breakthrough that will eventually earn him the Nobel Prize. After graduate school he turns to teaching, becoming romantically involved with his student Alicia. Meanwhile the government asks his help with breaking Soviet codes, which soon gets him involved in a terrifying conspiracy plot. Nash grows more and more paranoid until a discovery that turns his entire world upside down. Now it is only with Alicia's help that he will be able to recover his mental strength and regain his status as the great mathematician we know him as today. "

    MY APPRAISAL

It took 2 hours and 16 minutes and voila! It's on my all time top 6!

    A BEAUTIFUL FILM!

Among the ocean of Oscar worthy films of 2001, A Beautiful Mind is what I consider the very best and thank God the Oscar are also in the same opinion. I'd be really pissed off if LOTR: The Fellowship of The Ring got the BEST PICTURE title! Moulin Rouge was OK, but I don't fancy musicals (I lied. I HATE musicals, they bore me). So that leaves Ron Howard's A Beautiful Mind to gain the upper hand.

At first, I'd have to mention Russel Crowe because he deserved to. His acting was so damn brilliant!! I was totally amazed!! Noone could play the John Nash part as great, as astounding, and as excellent as him. He is absolutely gripping and able to transform himself into John Nash completely and viewers will forget that he is playing a role. This might be the second greatest role he'd ever done in his career (since The Gladiator). It's a sad thing he lost the Best Actor title to Denzel Washington from The Training Day.

The script writer must've know that the general idea about schizophrenia (I could barely spell it!) is an Oscar bait. It's rare but f*cking brilliant! The story toy with our emotion easily as it's superbly acted and remarkably directed.

Jennifer Connelly wasn't annoying like she was in HULK. She did a really great job here and this is her best performance I've seen. I can say A Beautiful Mind had excellent casts. A Beautiful Mind teaches a very important lesson that we may conquer all the beasts, even the strongest one in the world but the biggest enemy is our every self. And it is important to us to win over ourself and never let your illusion controls you.

    INSPIRING AND AN ULTIMATE MASTERPIECE

"Perhaps it is good to have a beautiful mind, but an even greater gift is to discover a beautiful heart."

It a very good movie, it has very good action, a little bit of suspense and also a bit of romance. This movie has the characteristical touch of Ron Howard, he knows how to make you stay on the edge of your seat and didnt feel dissapointed with his movies. The cast is full of great actors and actresses, beggining with Russell Crowe whos performance was very solid, Jennifer Connelly looks and acts almost to perfection, Ed Harris with a great secondary role.

This was really good, but I would need to rewatch it again to fully "get" it. I found besides being confusing (although it IS meant to be that way) it was a little slow and I wasn't captivated. A definite worthy watch, even if it wasn't feeling it totally.

Having the powers of extra-ordinary intuition and brilliance is a rare gift which very few people are blessed with, but some drift into the realm of insanity. That's sad.
You need to have a passion, an obsession for things to go on, but they can be guided, nurtured only if one is loved and cared. I am deeply touched by the story.

I'm not schizophrenic, but I do have some mental health problems, and I know how scary it can be at times. I've wanted to kill myself because of some of it, but I know that there are people a LOT worse off than me, so I stayed alive. I was told I could never become a Drama teacher because of my troubles. My 'friends' and a careers adviser told me this, and I listened to them for a long time. Now I am at university studying theatre education, and I am doing alright.

What I'm trying to say is, no matter what your troubles are, you should never let them ruin your life. I think Russell Crowe portrayed this idea fantastically in 'A Beautiful Mind' and I truly believe that mental illness and genius are extremely close.
I also think Paul Bettany made a brilliant Charles, and I felt sorry for him when Nash had to start ignoring him...And Ed Harris was just as good, but in a more darker way.

MY NUMBER 1 MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!
