Adventures of the caped crusader, stressing the relationship between Batman and his adversary The Joker.
1989 was indeed the year of the Bat. And Tim Burtonīs amazing adaptation of Batman on the big screen was a example of how the Batmania will always live on.Besides not being the perfect Caped Crusader,Michael Keaton was excelent(he is short) and lived up to the role and he is still the best actor on playing Batman alongside Christian Bale(the best of them all,of course). But thereīs not doubt that Jack Nicholson stole the thunder as the Joker.I mean,he is freaking funny and phsicotic, the way the Joker should be.For me,the best of the four Bat-movies and offers a lot of action.fun and entertainement.Well,is not the Dark Knight but Batman remains a classic of his own.Tim Burton did a great job but he should focus more on Batman than the Joker. But anyway is my all time favorite Batman film and Burtonīs fave by way and also one of the biggest movies of the 80īs.

It's late, and I can't focus well enough to write a proper review. So, I'll just jot down what I'm thinking, in no particular order

Batman holds up very well, almost twenty years later. It definitely has that 80's vibe, but I've yet to see a movie made during that time that didn't scream 80's from the very first scene, to the last.

Michael Keaton was a great choice for Bruce Wayne, because no one would ever suspect him of being Batman. I still don't.

A dance number? Maybe I would have more lenient with Spider-Man 3 if I would have remembered that that there was precedent for that kind of thing in superhero movies.

The Batjet scenes looked like they were done with Star Wars-era technology.

Speaking of Star Wars, I kept expecting Billy Dee Williams to come striding into a scene in his Lando Calrissian costume and declare that he was now Two-Face. No explanation necessary.

Jack Nicholson makes a great, silver-age Joker. But at the same time, it's impossible to forget that he's Jack Nicholson while watching the movie.

The original Batmobile looks just as bad-ass as it did when I was a kid. I STILL want one. I mean, it's got FLAMES COMING OUT OF IT!

Vicki Vale? Meh, she'll do, but Selina Kyle or Talia al Ghul are the only love interests for Batman that can be more interesting than just the typical "damsel in distress".

Did people really wear glasses like that in the 80's? Good Lord!

Did Batman drop bombs from his car and kill all Joker's henchmen in the factory? And did he try to shoot the Joker with his machine guns? Maybe I didn't give Micheal Keaton enough credit, I like his style!

Did the Joker have some sort of master plan, or was he just screwing around?

That crowd would have completely torn the Joker apart to rip that bag of money out of his hands. And each other. And Gotham.

So yeah, I liked Batman when it first came out, and I still like it today. It's probably my third or fourth favorite in the series. Its campy, without being ridiculous.

Definitely one of the better pre-Christopher Nolan Batman movies. I forgot Tim Burton did this one. In my defense, I was only 9 when it came out and probably had no concept of what a director even was back then.

To me, this will ALWAYS be the definitive superhero flick. Balls to the wall and very inovative for the times and for the franchise.

Favorite Moment I WISH had happened in this movie:

D.A. Dent walks up to the podium at the banquet being held in his honor.

DENT: Thank you... Thank you... Thank you, Mayor Borg!

    (turns to face audience)

DENT: People of Gotham City! I'm a man of few words.

    (Pause)

Dent walks back over to his seat and sits down. Thunderous applause ensues.

"Batman" was the first movie I saw on the big screen when I was 5yrs old. It was a brilliant film then and one of the best films of the series now, alongside Nolan's new batman.

I remember watching this movie over and over again when I was 6-7 years old.

After rewatching it, I say it has aged a bit, but is still an acceptable and entertaining movie.
