MCT:September 3, 2007One of Cuba Gooding Jr.'s most memorable performances to the few of us who've had the luck to see this movie. I was just a kid when it first aired, but I never forgot about the girl named Blue who loved a man enough to want to die for him... a man who was trying to open the eyes of the world, even though he himself was doomed and knew it.
This movie is so very underrated that I had to run a search for female characters named Blue to find it. I am extremely glad to have been able to track it down and purchase it, as viewing it as an adult has been an entirely different experience. I had very strange parents that let me watch R rated films from a very young age, so there were many things lost on me that first time, but I understood the plight, the fear, and the love... and what kept it alive in my mind for over a decade was the love.
Yes, it's an apocalyptic storyline, but that undercurrent of hope is what binds you to it and carries you through even the most heart-wrenching moments. This movie changed my life. Twice.
