A fun family movie with groovy and catch tunes. The story line is a cross between a modern day grease and the t.v show one tree hill. This movie is sure to delight the young, young at heart and fans of movie musicals.

MCT:October 10, 2008Oh My God.. I am absolutely speechless. This is the best movie ever made in the history of mankind! The storyline and plots are wicked incredible and the songs took my breath away. Zac Efron is a MASTER OF ALL ACTORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The whole casts are PERFECT, BRILLIANT, AMAZING, and FLAWLESS. AAAAAAAAAAAAA. HOW COULD ANYONE POSSIBLY DON'T LIKE IT? IT'S VERY VERY VERY GOOD! Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are blessed and gifted! Artists with most amazing voice above all. Zac Efron is also very very very cute. He is the most handsome human being on earth.
Viva HSM! I want more sequels! HSM 3, HSM 4, ....... HSM 100.000!

Haha, it's so cute :D Though I don't like that Disney don't use acoustic music. That would give so much more sense to the movie.

stupid musical, with lots of 'I wanna be myself' songs. Stupid supersilly movie.
Predictable plot, and just make me wanna throw out.
However, luckily they got some moves and some songs are just 'placed correctly' in the movie. -

Dull,Untalented actors,Horrible soundtracks
It was some of the worst acting and singing I have ever heard. I tried my hardest to sit in on the whole thing until it went to the cafeteria scene (if you could call it a cafeteria, more like a Chucky Cheese cruise-liner dining room). I started laughing not because of their failure at being funny, but just how annoying the song was! I immediately turned off the TV and kept laughing.Oh !!! Walt Disney..What happened to you ?!?
Aren't you the guys who did The Beauty and a Beast,one of the best musicals of all time ? Or how about Lion King ? There used to be time when Disney's cartoons were all in high standard,almost masterpiece levels.I want that era again.

Romantically entangled High Schoolers who don't kiss? Students who drink milk with their lunches? A "be true to yourself" message that includes all the timidly heterosexual students (none of whom struggle with their sexual identity)? Ridiculously stereotyped faculty members and parents who can do no wrong by their kids?What the h*ll is wrong with today's youth ?
The movie was terrible! The music, the singing, the lyrics to the songs, the general writing and the old kiddy movie "We were mean to you but now we're sorry" act.
This so called "musical" is dumbing down today's children and brings a shame to the any plays that called musical.
Zac Efron almost caught lip-synched during this whole film. Zac would sing the first two lines in each song and magically his voice would change.He was dull and embarassing.
Ashley Tisdale trying to act like a genuine Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton but brings shame to herself.
Whoever says Vanessa Hudgens is so cute is out of their minds.
Corbin Bleu is just so.....stupid.
(I wanna say more about them but I really dont wanna spend my time on this film's review)

Although the movie is somewhat enjoying to watch, it is also extremely difficult to get through without blushing and laughing at it's somewhat awful script and cheesy acting and lacking camerawork. But hey, it's a television movie made by the Disney channel. Good job dudes.

i was a bit sceptical about high school musical because i thought nothing would top mary poppins for me, but after watching this i fell in love. i dont only love this movie i am addicted to it. its an acceptional show for pre teens,teens and the young at heart. even adults can watch. its awesome

So okay, I'm not much of a musical fan, but still, I don't get it why they're making all this biig fuss. The actors have a talent they should be proud of, but still, this movie needs some serious reconsideration, I'm sorry to say. I dunno why I bothered rating it.

Up there with Shawshank, the most advanced intellectual romantic comedy ever made, and easily the best musical. Ashley Tisdale (who looks exactly like Brittany Murphy) gives an oscar worthy performance, as does Zac Efron who is destined to become the next big hollywood star. Underappreciated by more mature audiences which is a great shame, considering it exceeds some of cinema's great classics by a surprisingly long way...

This movie is about two characters troy bolton(zac effron)and Gabriella montez (vanessa anne hudgens) who meet at a ski lodge and sing karoke but then a few weeks later discover their in the same school since gabriella's mother got tranfered. This movie is so fake! they got the cliques completely backwards. yes, I know not all Jocks are bad, but at my school, 90% of Jocks yell "eew" out of their car windows when they see nerds and/or goths on the street. Plus, out of the many actors/actresses at my school, not a single one of them is nearly so dramatic, annoying, or bitchy as Sharpay. It's insulting and repulsive.
The songs aren't that great, either. I can't believe the multitude of fans this thing has. Grow up! I can almost understand liking this if you're eight or nine, but 13+? who are you kidding?
If you want to see a good film, watch Silence of the Lambs or V for Vendetta. If you aren't ready for things like that, at least watch a *good* kids movie, for example, the Hunchback of Notre Dame or Beauty and the Beast.
This movie deserves no praise! I'm sick of hearing about it and seeing all of its merchandise everywhere.
