Plot: Forced out of her home after her boyfriend is arrested, Joleen Reedy needs a place to stay with her 11-year-old daughter, Tara. She turns for help to her younger brother James--a simple and overly tru...( read more read more... )sting man who doesn't hesitate to welcome them into his modest rental apartment. Almost as soon as she moves in, however, Joleen hits the road with another man. Utterly ill-equipped to be the sole guardian of an adolescent girl, James does his best to make his distraught niece happy. But, before long, things spin out of control: he loses his road crew job and Tara is put into foster care. Additionally, old wounds from his emotionally abusive and sometimes violent father begin to reopen as James is forced to re-examine his life. That's when James makes a fateful decision that will bring his life full circle and force him to face his demons. He takes off with Tara and the pair assumes new identities as father and daughter. What starts out as a ploy to evade authorities takes on a deeper significance as James strives to become the dad Tara never had and, for the first time, finds a true purpose in life.

I must say that I was expecting a lot more out of this movie. It was very slow and nothing was ever satisfactorily resolved. I felt that there was a LOT of story left to tell and that I was cheated.

This is a very painful and difficult movie to watch -sad story of a woman who cannot get her life together (Theron) who leaves her 11 yr old daughter with her emotionally strugging brother played Ohhh so VERY brillantly yet heart-breakingly by Nick Stahl. Both he and his sister have their problems but they stem back to the abuse they suffered under their father's cruel ways played by Dennis Hopper. Performances by all in this movie are more than outstanding - the story itself however a little slow and painfully hard to watch which is why I can't give this 4 stars...but Nick Stahl's performance in particular was brilliant.

A fairly painful experience -- a little too close to life but without any deep message. Maybe face your own fears...?

A girl abandoned by her mother, a father unable to offer anything but hatred to his own children -- these are narrative elements of potentially great force, but they play out here without much shape, definition or power. Stylistically strange, sluggish and ultimately an unsatisfying domestic drama that is all too aptly named, just save yourself from "sleepwalking" through this film and go and take a nap instead.

this film shouldnt be missed. It does get corny and syrupy in the second half but its still worth watching. Charlize theron is wonderful in her small role as a dysfunctional mother who abandons her daughter, anasophia and nick stahl are also good as niece and uncle who must struggle to sruvive after the uncle loses his job and is stuck with the fact that his sister might enver come back and must find a way to take care of his niece whi is in need of a mother and guidance. In the end niece and uncle take a road trip to the old farm ownded by the father of nick stahl and charlize theron. There Nick stahl must confront his demons with his father and the past that made him sleepwalk through his life for many years.

    its it worth watching.

This flick was pretty alright.Nick Stahl plays the brother to Charlize Theron, who is in trouble ,partying it up and basically a mess, with a mess of a life and pre-teen daughter dragged all over to hell and back with her.The acting was good,I had never seen Nick Stahl in anything before so,So far so good there. My little Annasophia Robb,I tell you what this beautiful little girl has so much ahead, she is so talented and did really well in this role.Dennis Hopper,Lord knows I love him but good lord the man plays the meanest old bastard you have ever seen.Pretty good,Not phenomenal but worth watching.=)

A riveting movie that has a heartbreaking plot and some strong performances from its talented cast but it is slow and drags at times and the ending is a bit unfinished.

A film ?Sleepwalking? by Bill Maher. Sleepwalking has terrible camera work. It?s one of the main problems with it. Its shot like a sappy Lifetime movie, close-up after close-up in the film?s most pivotal scenes tires the audience. What?s great about this movie is it?s not flashy like people think movies need to be. It is not over the top, not glamorous. This movie is striped to the bare essence of what it takes to make a good film or better, great acting, and a genuine story line. Sleepwalking?s ending hardly even tries to put some sort of resolution. It?s an all-throughout morbid storyline that deserved a true resolution, sadly it barely had one. The cinematography by Juan Ruiz Anchia is bleak yet beautiful and the screenplay by Zac Stanford, while meager, still manages to make the characters? plight heartfelt if too familiar.

Rollerskating underwater, you got to try that!! Pretty sad movie about a young girl who is looked after by her uncle when her mum abandons her. Trying to do the right thing isn't always easy!

I've been wanting to see this when I first saw the previews for it earlier this year. Just finally got done with it. I really enjoyed this film. Nick Stahl was great in here and so was Annasophia Robb. A sad and touching film. It's one of the unique ones.

Honestly there isnt much to say about this movie, and thats because this movie isnt much of anything at all. If I were to set this movie up to a heart monitor, it would sound either like the person was asleep or dead. Dont get me wrong this movie portrays a strong emotion, but its the same emotion throughout the whole movie; sadness. This movie was very onedimentional and had very little substance. However on a good note, Annasophia and Nick did a respectable job. I hated Dennis Hoppers role.

Sleepwalking is film fest cinema at its best: it?s indie, star-powered, celebrity-backed and bleak...

The actors never give the impression of a manufactured moment: everything feels real and as it could be... These are not cookie-cutter characters and their stories are not delivered wrapped in a pretty little bow. Unfortunately, they are not conveyed very strikingly either...

Nonetheless, more than competent acting is usually part of this indie package; if only the same were true for directing. Bill Maher (not the politically outspoken one) fails to bring anything new to this story type, sticking to the traditionally dreary style - except for a vibrant dreamlike scene of a poolside Tara...

Well this was a trip for me...coming from a childhood with an @$$hole father this was a bit sureal for me. Other then that I thought this was good story and well done by the actors. Great cast and that young lady has a bright future. Nick was great, I thought he did outstanding.

The pacing of this movie is a little slow. There were times when i almost gave up on it, and wanted to stop watching it, but didn't. I am glad i finished this movie because there is something so honest, and pure about the subject matter. What's great about this movie is it's not flashy like people think movies need to be. It is not over the top, not glamorous. This movie is striped to the bare essence of what it takes to make a good film or better, great acting, and a genuine story line.

Charlize Theron goes from super hot to super trash, again. Now that's versatillity. Good acting throughout. Story's a bit weak, but good acting always beats a bad script.

this movie was a piece of junk made even wrost by the fact that it futured so many good actors that i love. though i think the performs were good i found annasophia robb very inapopet and unbeliveble in her prat. i'm not try to say she was bad in the flim or is bad actress i just think she is too pretty for the prat. on top of that i found the writing weak and unintersting.
