A Very Bad thriller that stars Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschannel.

This movie was so terrible that i couldnt believe i wasted $5 on comcast to watch it.

This was one of the worst scripted movies ever! The script for this movie i thought was so bad i wanted to kill M. Night Shyamalan for writing. Shit, i could write better scripts than him. All the talking scenes were stupid and poitless and why the fuck was this R-Rated agian? There's no violence barly and i dont think there was one swearing word, so why did people make such a big deal about M. Night making his first R-Rated film. This shit could have been PG for fuck sake. This movie was just silly and retarded!

The Happening is M. Night Shyamalan's latest movie. A film that pretends to make conscience that we must take care of our planet, without achieving it. It is supposed to be a suspense movie but frankly I didn't feel it. The story about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity seems to be very interesting and original but very bad developed, what I mean is that the movie begins directly from the conflict, there's never an introduction and there's no closure or conclusion either, it ends exactly the way it begins. The cast is very good but their performances lack of intensity. Mark Wahlberg I a good actor but in this movie wasn't good at all, he tries to be funny in some scenes but he just can't do it. Zooey Deschanel, she is pretty but I feel her acting just plain and empty and John Leguizamo well maybe he was the best one. Maybe the only good thing in the movie was the music, it just makes you feel a little bit of tension and mystery In conclusion, I feel a little dissapointed and if you want to watch it, you better wait for the DVD.

    I'm talking to a plant...and its plastic!''

A paranoid thriller about a family on the run from a natural crisis that presents a large-scale threat to humanity.

    Mark Wahlberg: Elliot Moore

    Zooey Deschanel: Alma Moore

The Happening is M. Night Shyamalan's take on the effects and unknown powers of nature. What we get is quite easily explained as a mess and film lacking any point or plausibility.

Being a fan of M. Night Shyamalan's Signs, Sixth Sense, Lady in the Water and The Village to name but a few, I was looking forward to The Happening. Unfortunately I was in for a rude awakening.

When the best parts are Mark talking to a plastic plant or an old woman suddenly appearing on screen scaring the fudge out of everyone then you should really become worried if your film has any substance. Sadly this happening seems like a soft breeze and a film with no backbone in its execution. We the audience spend the duration of the film waiting for a twist, a twist that unfortunately never comes. What we do get is a film with the quality of a flimsy piece of cardboard, that will fade from memory in a day or two. I expected better from M. Night Shyamalan and I had hoped the Critics were wrong, I attempted to see the best in Happening but there really wasn't anything at all.

Mark Walhberg as Elliot Moore wasn't convincing. He just does not DO a weedy teacher well. Half the time standing around looking confused or dumbstruck with a gormless expression etched on his face.
Zooey Deschanel who plays Alma Moore really did some terrible acting which sucked big time! Granted the script and material didn't help much and I'd say she's been better Bridge to Terabithia.

The Happening isn't worthy of the Cinema, not by a long shot. Go and see The Hulk which has more depth in it's first ten minutes than this does in its entirety.

    M. Night Shyamalan has done fantasy, he's done Alien Origins, Supernatural, Isolation and these gambles have usually paid of. But Happening is where his luck runs out, his take on Nature fails to be intriguing or clever devoid of twists that he's so richly known for and any relevance to said Point is never explained.

Plants, trees and bushes getting there own back on humanity. A poor film.

So what if Mark Wahlberg cried a few too many times (the man's still gorgeous)...it was a good movie that really makes you think!

This is the one movie that able to show you precisely that nightmare could also happen to those who weren't sleeping...this wasn't a compliment, in case you're thinking that this movie is tremendously bloodcurdling...apparently, this is an excellent time waster and yet it's the worst movie i've seen within this past months...
As a matter of fact, there are lots, lots of wacky scenes which are too dreadful yet they are utterly unspeakable...at the second half of the movie, the characters keep running...they all ended up in strange places and met quirky characters...so i've heard Shyamalan topped character developments in his every film...how he progressively introduces them to the audience and bind us to the characters...as for me, i don't quite get the emotion between Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel as two distressed husband and wife...to me, they're just like another couple among the groups of side casts throughout the movie...i didn't get to see them interact with each other much because the director focused on what is threatening humankind and Shyamalan tried as hard as he could to make the movie more heart-pounding, rather whining about Mark and Zooey's sentimental predicament...i didn't see any climax...i want the damn climax!!
Mark Wahlberg is just like a gleaming treasure among them pigs...i can hardly forgive them (Zooey Deschanel, etc.) for their super lame acting skill...have you got any idea, that you all acting like bunch of robotic meat sack?? no way...just gimme another damn break!!
The one and only appeal in this movie, certainly is Mark Wahlberg...alas it wasn't his best performance, clearly there's nothing can stop you from running out of the theatre where this film is showed...
Come on, Mark, i love you...but please don't f* with my heart ever again...

Like a typical Shyamalan trait - The Happening is bred out of mystery, unravels through progression, and concludes far too swiftly for the steadiness seen prior. There is an abundance of potential that becomes apparent, but the capitilisation to make for a memorable picture is never taken heavily enough. Yet while the film tends to keep falling into its own pot-holes, it is the constant pervasiveness of paranoia and ponderance that takes place in the picture that keeps us watching and keeps us thinking. The film is simple, but its timeliness and execution of an ideal is truthful and thoughtful. Its depiction never meanders outside of reality, and while its subtext is easily edible, its digestion may prove a little harder to come to terms with.

Certainly a plausable concept. Not a movie for young one's to view with very disturbing scenes throughout. Well acted and thought provoking.

It was nice seeing Mark Wahlberg in this movie :) I think he knows how to act in movies pretty good. But anyhow, lots of people end up hurting themselves or if not that, then somene or somebody ends up finishing the business. :(

This movie tried so hard to push the global warming agenda that it almost killed the story (at least what story there was to kill). The cast was weak and the characters were very underdeveloped. I had hoped that Lady in the Water was a fluke but it seems that he may be on a loosing streak.

For me this was a disturbing film. Lots of moments where people are doing things out of the ordinary. I don't enjoy very much of Mr.Shyamalan's work and this film has very little to offer the common viewer. The plot really makes no sense and unlike most of M. Night's other movies, there is no twist. What you see is what you get.

If I could have given this negative stars I would have. It was abysmal. Knight should have his DGA and WGA cards revoked. He was a lucky one-hit-wonder. The Sixth Sense was a tour de force, but really, nothing else has come close to being even watchable.

Something's happening alright, and it aint pretty.
A strange phenomenon of nature has begun in some parts of the United States. A Phenomenon which seems to threaten humanity as people start taking their own lives in different ways with no concrete nor reasonable explanation for it.

A graphic and slightly gruesome movie that makes u struggle to make sense of the series of events. This events consist of a focus on a specific family...along with people running for their lives and trying very hard to survive this bizarre happenings.

This is very typical of Shyamalan and his movies. He keeps u in suspense and succeeds in leaving a bad taste in ur mouth. The movie is not particularly Scary...more like Thrilling, if anything. Yet it could be classified as interesting and can be apprecitated for the thought provoking message it sends out.

I had high hopes but they were destroyed completely, this was the worst film i have seen ever, the acting was shit, the pacing was too slow and the relationship was dire. Pitty i had hoped Mark Wahlberg would have put his name to a better film!

A poor disaster movie where everyone starts committing suicide for no reason. So bad it's funny at times. Imagine Mark Whalberg trying to convincingly play a school science teacher whilst talking to a plant and you get the idea.

This was a good thriller by M. Night Shyamalan. I liked the fact that when they were infected it caused them to kill theirselves. Mark Wahlberg and John Leguizamo were very convincing.

like I said they're making too many of these type of movies and I'm getting sick of them! It wasn't even scary, and I got bored right after the middle of this god forsaken movie.
