MCT:October 6, 2008My current other half recommend this movie to me back when we were just talking via the internet, we were constantly talking so this movie in ways reminded me of us, it was the way he let me know he liked me.
The movie is somewhat slow so wont be to everyone's taste, but if your in the mood to get into a story and want to shut off from the world around and watch two complete strangers find a way to be together through the impossible then this is the romance flick for you. -

Why couldn't they just call each other on the phone? I know it's not as romantic but there were just too many plot errors. Yet because it's romantic I like it.

Pretty good. A little slow at times. And I kept trying to wrap my brain around the whole time travel thing even though I knew that it didn't make sense. But it was cute and it made me cry.

Can time catch up? Does it ever manage to stand still? Is time warp and travel possible?
+: Keanu and Sandra, who compliment eachother very well. The musical score was thoughtful, sweet, and flowed along with each scene it graced.
I liked how the over-all filming and lighting in this film was warm and positive. 'Also how Alex and his father spoke of 'light' in general. Most interesting.
-: I absolutely detest the rate at which couples are up and living together without any thought of future marriage. "Get married, people!" It's an infinitely better, safer option... Not to mention the way God properly, perfectly designed things to be.
Why did Kate end up choosing to stay with Morgan, even when she knew the already had [the chance for] something (someone) better? One could understand it, but yet not, and also not condone her action(s).
Anyway, the unique plot of Lake House simply boggles many of our minds. When I saw it in theatres, contemplative silence was the reaction of 3/4 the viewers upon exiting.
Sometimes I think I almost still don't get it. Just kidding. ;)

Last time Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock starred in the same movie was in Jan de Bont's action hit Speed, and if it's anything that film taught us, it's that the two of them have a great chemistry together on screen. The same goes for this film, that altough being of a completely different genre, brought out the best in them once again.
As for the story per se, it wasn't at all the "chick flick" I had expected it to be, but rather a touching and original film about life, hope and the search for true love. It even had a supernatural element to it, which is something that really appealed to me, as it provided the plot with a rare sense of depth and mystery.
All things taken into account, this is definitely one of the best romantic dramas I've ever seen. Perfect for a rainy day, or when in need of a fresh ray of hope. -
MCT:September 25, 2008I watch this movie more often than anything else I own and its because of the mood set by the music, scenes, experience between characters, subdued. a very meaningful, relaxing, and introspective love story.

I'm pathetic I know, but I watch this movie every time I happen upon it. I don't think it's that well written, believable or anything. But Sandra and Keanu have good chemistry and I like to watch it. So there!

Very good movie...
This is a touching, well-acted, and beautiful looking film. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves have great chemistry together and the supporting actors are very competent. The story is absorbing and interesting, and although its a time-travel fantasy, it's logical within it's basic premise.
"The Lake House" isn't just another dime-a-dozen romance movie.
It speaks some hard truths about love.
Sometimes distance and restraint are the best environment to allow love to grow. Sometimes it pays to wait for love.
I like it.

Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock put together in a romantic movie?a must see...the movie really made me cry,though some plots were closed to impossible anyway its a movie..True love can only be achieved through the test of time...its worth the waiting than nothing at all.lol

I was at first intrigued b/c it was another movie w/ Reeves and Bullock (remember the movie "speed" anyone?) but then i found out that it was more of a romance film, and i must say Reeves and Bullock's chemistry was better in they're first film together... but anyway-plot is great, kinda boring after watching it too many times but great the first few

Movies like this are made to torture men. Watching and listening to Keanu trying to express emotion and speak for an hour and a half is enough to put anybody on suicide watch. This story never quite fits and by the end you don't care if it does.

Great movie, but I just didn't like the fact she kept leaving her ex-boyF many times just to look go look for the other guy. Why didn't she end her relatioship with the previous guy instead? She kept of playing with his feelings which isn't nice to do.
