The best of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and arguably one of the best films ever made.
Just one thing.....how in HELL does this have a 7/10 rating on flixster? Sort it out people, this didn't win Best Picture for nothing.
the world has changed. i feel it in the water. i feel it in the air. i smell it in the air.... blah..blah... one of the best movie i have ever seen. i just love sam and frodo
When I thought that LOFTR couldn't get any better it did. The return of the king was the best. This movie is a must watch movie of all time, if you like sci-fi.
I like all the LTR movies. They are a bit long however and like star wars, I get confused which movie I am watching. But fantasy movies are fun to get lost in.
Aragorn: "Hold your ground, hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you *stand, Men of the West!*"
The War of the Ring reaches its climax as the dark lord Sauron sets his sights on Minas Tirith, the capital of Gondor. The members of the fellowship in Rohan are warned of the impending attack when Pippin cannot resist looking into Saruman's palantir and is briefly contacted by the dark lord. King Theoden is too proud to send his men to help without being asked, so Gandalf and Pippin ride to Minas Tirith to see that this request is sent. They meet opposition there from Denethor, steward of the city and father of Faramir and the late Boromir. Denethor's family has acted as temporary guardians of Gondor for centuries until a member of the true line of kings returns. This member is none other than Aragorn, who must overcome his own self-doubt before he can take on the role he was destined to fulfill. Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam continue to carry the One Ring towards Mordor, guided by Gollum. What they don't know is that Gollum is leading them into a trap so that he can reclaim the Ring for himself. Though Sam suspects his deceit, Frodo is starting to be corrupted by the Ring's power and the mistrust of Sam this causes is fully exploited by Gollum. The only way good can prevail in this contest is if the Ring is destroyed, an event that is becoming harder every minute for Frodo to achieve. The fate of every living creature in Middle Earth will be decided once and for all as the Quest of the Ringbearer reaches its climax.
No other movie can compare with this one. It has everything. You can feel every character and you stand next to him even when all ends, even when the fellowship takes different ways, you still know what will happen to each character and how they 're going to spend their lives. It's an action film but it has very special meanings to give to the audience. For instance that many people are doing something for one common purpose. It's an action movie with emotion. The visual effects are perfect and the direction of Peter Jackson as well. The acting is great and when you put all these in a movie you have the best.

The meaning I get out of this movie has changed as time has passed. Yet I still love it. This movie will never cease to be a favorite of mine. And the story it follows will always hold a special place within me.
The third film is really great and magical and funny, but it can be confusing (as well as the other two first movies can be). But if you sit down and really listen to it, you can enjoy it!!
EVERYONE I KNOW WHO HAS SEEN THIS TRILOGY LIKES THIS THE BEST, NOT ME, I LIKE THE FIRST ONE THE BEST BECAUSE IT LAID THE STORY OUT FOR THE OTHER TWO MOVIES. I THOUGHT IT WAS SICK THAT THIS MOVIE GOT ALL THE OSCARS AND THE FIRST TWO GOT NOTHING, GREAT MOVIE BUT WITHOUT THE FIRST PART IT WOULD OF BEEN NOTHING
One of the best fantasy movies made. Had a great cast and great special affects. Loved the books and the movie was very close to the them. Peter Jackson was the perfect choice to direct these movies.
Although it has been more than 30 years since I first read the trilogy, I've been waiting a long time for a movie that would do the books justice. There have been other attempts that failed. If this first installment is any indication, my wait is over. Special effects technology has finally reached a point that the story can be adequately portrayed. The storyline is not overwhelmed by the F/X, but enhanced by it. So many times, while watching the movie, I thought "That's just the way I imagined it" True, some characters I loved were left out (eg. Bombadil) and some of the plot was not in the same sequence as the books and there were other small differences. But I've not been so impressed by a movie since the premier of the orginal Star Wars. The interplay between the characters is perfect. The scenery is spectacular. They even got the proportions of the various races right. (I was afraid the dwarves and hobbits would be too tall.) I loved it, my kids loved it, my husband loved it and so did my mother. Go see this film, it is one that must be seen in a theater to be properly experienced.
this is the triology that has held my attetion since star wars its a perfectly put together film that leaves no question unanswered and although although we hate when it happend the film showed alot of our fav good guys died (elves in part 2) but that just adds to the over all greatness that not all good endings happened the fake way---with no sacrafice.
