MCT:October 10, 2008I think this was some kind of experiment. Mike Myers wanted to see if his Austin Powers and Wayne's World movies were really funny or will people just laugh at anything he does. He probably just wanted to see if people would laugh at him if he read out of a phone book. That's my only explanation for this movie. Unfortunately a phone book reading probably would have been funnier. It's not just not-funny. It's the absence of funny, but the opposite of funny. Not-funny would just be boring, but this actually passes the zero point on the funny meter and keeps on sucking. I found myself constantly looking at my watch during an 81 minute movie. Painful.

Another ill movie that's an insult to comedy and good taste. Wait..this time he's not alone, he is accompanied by the beautiful talentless Jessica Alba and what appears to be J.Timberlake in a silent role!

It was one long cruelly bad cliche and im shocked the script managed to get funding in the first place. -
i think the love guru was really good because it had a good ssence of humor, really exciting and i would recommend it to anyone.

Myers plays the Guru Pitka, a fabulously successful self-help expert who dreams of one day besting rival Deepak Chopra and becoming America's top spiritual adviser. Anyway, the potential answer to his prayers comes in the form of Jane Bullard (Jessica Alba), the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs who arrives at his ashram with a proposition. It seems that her star player, Darren Roanoke (Romany Malco), has been on the skids ever since he inexplicably dumped his sexbomb wife (Meagan Good) and she responded by taking up with his greatest rival, L.A. Kings star goalie Jacques "Le Coq" Grande (Justin Timberlake). Now that the two teams are scheduled to compete for the Stanley Cup, she asks Pitka to come to Toronto in order to work his magic on Roanoke so that he can reunite with his wife and pull it together in time to win the championship. The biggest issue with the film is Myers's character, Guru Pitka. This soft-spoken Eastern religious parody is essentially a bearded version of his Austin Powers routine. There are plenty of winks at the camera, euphemisms, double entendres about genitalia, and dwarf jokes. Justin Timberlake, who does a surprising and stereotypically goofy French Canadian accent. He doesn't have any inhibitions about the role, which usually has him parading around on camera looking like he's got a cucumber down his pants.

Only the celeb cameos, Verne Troyer, and Justin Timberlake are the funniest things in the movie. Hopefully Meyers will come back with a funnier film.

the canadian/quebec jokes were so random.. i dunno if Mike Myers was trying to prove his canadianess in this film.... i just love how they took american actors and TRIED to make them sound like canadians... NOT. Im sorry but the words ''you can kiss my canadian ass'' just didnt sound right coming from Jessica Alba..but it was still a good laugh.

Fart jokes, looking at the camera and talking to the audience, too much inuendo, all the things that ruined this film for me!!!! i love mike myers, i have loved every movie he has ever been in, untill now!!!! the humour just seemed a little lacking in structure, very austin powers 3 esque!!!!!!!!

just ok, funny in parts. funniest part is the corn dog scene when he is given a corndog and he doesnt know what it is. " whats this,a corn dog, is it made from dog? is this a dogs thing " myers shows his power among hollywood with his amount of celebrity cameos in the film. another amusing part is myers own cameo in the film as himself with kanye west at the final hockey game. co written and co produced by myers. ok but no where near as funny as austin powers or shrek

This movie was terrible; absolutely horrible. I like Mike Myers and loved Wayne's World and Austin Powers but this was a complete and utter disaster. I literally sat through this waiting and telling myself, "this is Mike Myers, Austin Powers, it just has to get better". Do not waste your time or you will be kicking yourself as I am.
