Guillermo del Toro Wants Fans in "The Hobbit"

MTV News got the chance to speak with director Guillermo del Toro about his upcoming "The Hobbit" films, which will lead up to the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
When asked what a fan has to do to appear in the film as an extra, Del Toro surprisingly had an answer. "Oh my god, well that's a good question only in that it's asked often," he said, chuckling. "[But] I believe as the film comes to happen, in either of the two films, [fans] have a good chance of being there."
He continued: "We will set some rules and some contests and some fans will definitely get the chance of being extras. Go and apply for those roles!"
There you have it. Fans will actually appear in the films. Stay tuned as we find out what the contests are and what it takes to win.
