MTV News caught up with Justin Long at Comic-Con and decided to find out whether the rumored "Alvin and the Chipmunks" sequel would ever be made. "Oh yeah," was the response from Long, who is the voice of the rebellious Alvin. "They're doing it."
The first film was a surprise hit, earning $217 million at the domestic box office and an additional $142 million internationally. So, that's a total of $359 million for a film which was made for $60 million. Not bad.
Now that the sequel has been greenlit, Long, Jesse McCartney and Matthew Gray Bugler will return to voice the characters. And Jason Lee will be back in front of the camera as Dave Seville. "I just got that call," Long revealed. "So that's going to be fun."
Last we heard, the idea for the sequel was to introduce the Chipettes, comprised of Brittany, Jeanette and Eleanor. Unfortunately, Long had no idea about this. "I don't know," he shrugged. "I don't know if the Chipettes are in it."
